About
What Minipool is, where its data comes from, and how often it updates.
What this site is
Minipool is a real-time dashboard and block explorer for the Monero P2Pool Mini network. It shows live pool hashrate, recent shares and blocks, per-address miner stats, and network health metrics. There are no accounts, and nothing you view here is tied to you.
Data sources
Minipool does not run a Monero node or a P2Pool instance. All data comes from public third-party services:
- P2Pool Observer (mini.p2pool.observer) — pool statistics, sidechain blocks, found blocks, and per-address miner data. Credit: pool and block data are provided by P2Pool Observer.
- CoinGecko (api.coingecko.com) — the XMR/USD price and 24-hour change. Credit: market price data are provided by CoinGecko.
- Kraken (api.kraken.com) — used as a fallback for the price when CoinGecko is unavailable. When the price comes from Kraken, the change shown is today's change (since midnight UTC), not a 24-hour change.
How data flows
Your browser never contacts those services directly. The site's server fetches from them, and your browser only talks to this site. This also works around cross-origin restrictions: P2Pool Observer blocks direct browser requests, so the server fetches on the site's behalf.
Refresh intervals
Each data type refreshes on its own schedule. The browser polls the site's server, and the server caches responses from the upstream sources:
- Pool stats and the live shares feed: browser polls every 10 seconds; the server caches upstream for 15 seconds.
- Found blocks: browser polls every 15 seconds; server cache 15 seconds.
- XMR price: browser polls every 60 seconds; the server caches CoinGecko for 5 minutes and the Kraken fallback for 1 minute.
- Pool decentralization: browser polls every 60 seconds; server cache 1 minute.
- Blocks found per day: browser polls every 5 minutes; server cache 5 minutes.
The "time since last block" ticker on the dashboard updates every second on your device from the last cached value, so it does not trigger extra requests.
Limitations
- Miner figures are counted per Monero address, not per person. One person can use several addresses, and one address can be shared by multiple people.
- The PPLNS window and decentralization figures are approximations based on the most recent shares and may shift as new shares arrive.
- "Today" and the "Blocks found per day" chart use UTC days, which may differ from your local calendar day.
- Blocks are found at random. A long gap since the last block does not mean one is due, and a quick run does not mean more are coming.
